what is the definition of emo? what does emo means?

what is all the buzz around this word? i want to know what this word means. can anyone tell me what it mean? i would like to know what the defenition of this word is. i've seen it is some example:

if you ask a hundred people what "emo" mean, they'll probably tell you 100 diferent answers. i want to know what is emo or how i can be an emo, how can you be an emo? I have some theories of what this word means, but i am not sure, i want to get some opinions here maybe there are some people who have a better idea of this word means anyway. well, if you want to know what my theories are, here they are: black nail polis, dashboard, confesional album or hair mousse or spray.??? i am right? I bet there's gota be some cool emo hairstyles
