changing your password
one of the most important ways to customize your account is to choose a secure but memrable password. this is not only convenient, but necessary for maintaining security of everone's data on the network.
before you begin the process of chanign your password, decide on an appropriate new one. there are serveral words to avoid when choosing a password becasue they are easily guesed. try not to use these:
your login id
any first or last name
your address
a word listed in a dictionary in any language
obscenities
pop culture words
it is best to include both uper and lowercase letter and at least one numeral or other character as well
with all these consideration, you may find it diffcult to create a secure password that can be rememberred. one way to formulate a memorable yet difficult password is to use the first letters of every word in a sentence that has meaning. for edample, if you enjoy a website like wallpaperam, your passwrd might be:
W@11paperama
this looks difficult to remember, it is extemely diffcult to crack but it's easy to recall ebcause it stand for wallpaperama.com
so this is the command you would use to change the password
* if your system is running NIS, use this command:
yppasswd
otherwise, enter this command:
passwd
after you send this command, you will be asked to enter the new password twice
