Hello,
I would like to know how I can run my own web server from my home using a dsl or cable broadband connection.
What will I need.
1. An Intel x386 Pc (Interl P4 CPU/ 512 DDR Memory/ 60GB Drive / Nic Card (Ethernet Card) / CD Rom
2. Windows XP
3. Download and install a copy of XAMPP at www.apachefriends.org
4. Once you have installed XAMPP on your machine you'll be able to access your PC (server) from anywhere by using your IP address. Even if it is Dynamic. As long as you have a WAN IP Address.
5. If you don't know what your wan IP Adress is go to www.mywanip.com to get it.
DONE
Note: there more you need to know, but if you can get your server running with these, you'll be in a good start. Then you can move to a more realistic Web Server by Installing LINUX on your pc and installing the APACHE WEB SERVER with PHP and MYSQL!
