i have an ubuntu linux server and for some reason im getting this error You are required to change your password immediately (root enforced) how can i fix this or atleast change my root password to get over this message. thank i thank you for your help
if unix finds 'last password change date' of an account = 1/1/1970 (year 0000 for unix) it forces password change on next login.
if your systems' date is like that and you change (as required) the password, each time you login on the same day it will require you to change password.
correct the system's date and it may go away.
